By Dhiraj Bomma
The NBA season kicked off last month on October 22nd. The season started with the New Orleans Pelicans playing at Toronto against the Raptors. The Raptors won the game at home by 8 points, to start off their season. The game was followed by the Los Angeles Lakers playing the LA Clippers. The Lakers had a lead going into the 2nd quarter, but lost the lead before the 2nd half. They recovered the lead, but the Clippers came back in the 4th to finish the game 112 - 102.
Coming up in December, will be the annual christmas game, followed by the All Star game in February. The 5 games on Christmas day are Celtics at Raptors, Bucks at 76ers, Rockets at Warriors, Clippers at Lakers, and Pelicans at Nuggets. The favorites to win these games are the Celtics , Bucks, Rockets, Lakers, and Nuggets. The 69th annual all star game will be on February 16th in Chicago. The players from the East and West will be voted as captains. The captains will likely be Lebron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo for the second year in a row.
The teams in the West will have a tough time fighting for 1st seed, as the Clippers, Lakers, Rockets, and Trailblazers are all good teams, with a chance to get first in the West. The teams in the East are much weaker in comparison to the West. The Bucks and 76ers seem to have the best rosters in the East, and one of the two will likely be the first seed. The playoff semifinals will be intense series that can go either way. However, the Lakers and Bucks seem to be the most likely to reach the finals, due to their strong roster.
Some players are off to a great start this year, such as James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Lebron James, all have a chance of winning the Most Valuable Player Award. All of those listed, other than Anthony Davis, have gotten this accomplishment in the past. These players are valuable assets to any team. Lebron is a fan favorite who will likely take the award home at the end of the season. His former teammate, Lonzo Ball, has a good chance of winning Most Improved Player. He has improved his shot over the offseason and was traded to a team, where he can now be the star player.
This season looks like it will be an intense one in which any team could end up on top.
The likely matchup of Lakers and Bucks in the Finals will be entertaining, especially since both teams have MVP candidates. Hopefully, no injuries wreak havoc on what should be a great season.
