Derrick Rose is a favorite of the many fans in the NBA. The 30-year-old point guard is known for his explosive play and is currently on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Rose created his reputation as the youngest player to win league MVP in the 2010-11 at age 22 where he led the Chicago Bulls to an impressive 62 win season. This impressive display of athleticism awed many fans making many believe that Rose was the newest generational talent in the NBA.

However, everything changed for Rose in the first round of 2012 NBA playoffs. The all-star misplaced his feet upon landing leading to an ACL tear that changed Rose’s career forever. Most ACL tears have an average recovery time between six and nine months causing any athlete to have a massive change in their game. Rose’s injury caused him to miss the entire following season and part of the 2013-14 season. In the 2013-14 season, Rose started to get back into athletic form, but once again was stopped by another injury. In November 2013, Rose had a meniscus tear forcing him to undergo surgery and leave for the remainder of the season. Rose continued to play in the NBA with several minor injuries over the years. Most fans gave up hope on Rose as a generational talent after a severe ankle roll in the 2017-18 season. Rose had gained the reputation as a wasted talent and an injury prone player.

In the 2018-19 season, Rose has resurrected his career from the dead. The former MVP scored a staggering 50 points against the Utah Jazz in a 128-125 win for the Timberwolves. NBA players around the league took notice and were ecstatic for the return of a great player. After being injury-ridden for the past six years, Rose walked off the court with his head held high. The postgame interview showed Rose shedding tears for his return explaining how he had worked so hard on his game. After the 50 point night, Rose scored an impressive 31 points against LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers. These two performances got fans expecting a great season from Rose.

Fans of rose believe that the point guard could have an all-star season with the Timberwolves. The return of form of Derrick Rose is one of the hottest NBA storylines over the 2018-19 season and is one that avid NBA fans should monitor.
