DIY: Candy Cupcake Toppers

by Chakrika Ratra

Now that spring is almost here, what’s a better way to prepare for it than to make cupcakes? Well, no cupcake is complete without a zest of designing that truly shows the meaning of spring. This easy and short DIY will show you how to transform drab cupcakes into complete fab. Let’s get started!!!

Step 1: Gather all your materials:

  1. Crepe paper
  2. Glue stick
  3. Cocktail sticks
  4. Small styrofoam balls 1″ in size or smaller.
  5. Scissors
  6. Craft glue
  7. Sewing thread

Step 2:
Cut a piece of crepe paper; make sure it’s long enough to go around the styrofoam ball and wide enough to make the “wrapping ends”.

Step 3:
Glue the middle of the styrofoam ball.

Step 4:
Roll the paper around the ball, by placing the styrofoam ball in the middle of the crepe paper. After doing so, set aside, and let it dry a while.

Step 5:
Tie the ends with sewing thread and cut off excess thread.

Step 6:
If the ends are too long, cut off to desired length and “fluff” the ends.

Step 7:
Dip a cocktail stick in the craft glue, and insert it inside the styrofoam ball. Make sure to wait a couple of minutes before proceeding to doing anything, so that the glue has time to dry.
