Kobe Beats Jordan

by Arsh Gill

On Sunday night Dec 14, 2014, Kobe passed Michael Jordan’s scoring record of 32,292 points by shooting a free throw in the second quarter against Timberwolves. Kobe is now the third highest scoring NBA player in the history of the sport, right behind the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.

Michael Jordan congratulated Bryant saying “I look forward to seeing what he accomplished next” what a great career Bryant had by winning  five championships: he won 2008 MVP and 2 times NBA final MVP and who can forget the 81 point game against Toronto raptors. Can’t believe this legend going to retire after this season.” Here is what LeBron James had to say: knowing this will be Kobe Bryant’s last season is "truly sad for me" and he regrets that the pair never faced off in the NBA Finals. "I didn't hold up my end of the bargain in 2009 for the fans, for us, to meet in the Finals," James said Tuesday, looking back on the 2008-09 season, when his Cleveland cavaliers led the league with a 66-16 record and Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers were right behind him at 65-17. "I know the world wanted to see it. I wanted it, we wanted it. He held up his end and I didn't hold up my end, and I hate that. I hate that that didn't happen." Here’s what Derrick Rose had to say about Bryant: “Kobe, he's someone that I've looked up to ever since I came into the league. Someone that I did commercials with. Someone that always gave me advice about my game, just coming into the league. He's seen how hard I worked and for him and all his accolades and his résumé ... I think that he's leaving the game in some good hands,

You’ve got Stephen Curry playing well, you've got a whole bunch of guys that's right behind him giving their all to the game. And just for Kobe himself, he's going to be a legend no matter what. He's our [generation's] Michael Jordan.” Its amazing how one man can influence so many people’s lives…. thank you Kobe for taking basketball to new heights.
