Track and Field Announcement

Hi everyone,

As you are aware, David Frisbie has been setting school track and cross country records consistently throughout his high school career, in extra spectacular fashion this year.  In addition to bringing JFK our school's first ever NCS championship, David is one of the favorites to add 1 or 2 individual NCS titles in track next month for the 800 and 1600 meter races (half mile & mile) in a little over a month from now.  Regardless whether or not he achieves this feat, elite athletes of his caliber don't come around very often and unless you were here in the late 80's/early 90's to see Lamond Murray, what David is accomplishing for athletics at Kennedy is unparalleled and there is a strong chance the records he is setting might never be topped.

This Wednesday, David and the rest of the Titan track team will be competing against Mission San Jose HS at TAK.  The meet starts at3:30.  We have at meet against Newark HS the following Thursday, 4/28 at TAK and then league finals Friday May 13th at James Logan HS.  We hope you all can get a chance to come out and support Titan Track & Field!

We had some excellent performances in the MVAL Finals this season in boys varsity. We beat Mission, American and Moreau, taking 5th place over all.

7 of our varsity athletes have made it to NCS, competing in 10 events this Saturday.

In addition, David Frisbie has broken the school mile (1600m) record again with an outstanding time of 4:14. 30, missing the league record by .26!. Then he came back and won the 800 in 1:57. His best time is 1:53, which in 2 seconds better than the league record and the fastest time listed in NCS this year.  David also was part of the 4x400m relay team that qualified for the NCS by beating Mission,Moreau, Irvington, and American. Samantha van de Graaf also broke a girl's varsity school record in the triple jump with a jump of 35' (placing for NCS). Samanth is only a freshman and placed for NCS in the long jump as well.

Congratulations to the following NCS competitors:

David Frisbie: 1600, 800, and 4x400 relay

Gustavo Rojas: 4x400 relay

Julian Mathis: high jump (5'6", best is 5'10") and 4x400 relay

Tegbir Jhutty:  Triple Jump (41'09", best is 42')

Mia Rodriguez: high jump (4'8", best is 5'), long jump (16'08" pr)

Samantha van de Graaf: Triple Jump (35' school record), long jump (16'07)

Another good morning everyone,

David Frisbie has been given the honor of being selected as the Male Athlete of the Week by the Bay Area News Group. This past weekend, he had the fastest times at the NCS Bayshore track and field championships in the 800m and 1600m.  For those that are unfamiliar, that is 2 times around the track and then a complete mile around the track.  Let me put it this way, he could run 3 miles in the time it takes me to do 1.  Please congratulate him as he continues his impressive showing this weekend at the Meet of Champions.  This is the last meet before going to the State Finals.  The link below takes you to the article:

Hope to see you in the stands,
