Since March 2020, COVID-19 has shut down a lot of attractions, including Bay Area favorites, such as Great America and Newark Days. During the month of October, some businesses like Speer Family Farms Pumpkin Patch, are up and running COVID-friendly, and we’re here to tell you eight things you can do this month. COVID-19 is still spreading, so please remember to wear masks when in public and to maintain social distancing. 

  • San Jose Municipal Rose Garden

The rose garden was founded in 1927 and spans 10 acres of beautiful greenery. The park is located in the Rose Garden district of San Jose, only one mile from LUNA, a mexican restaurant perfect for takeout for a picnic in the garden. Remember: Masks are mandatory in the state of California.

 

  • Winchester Mystery House

The haunted mansion is offering a self guided flashlight tour this Halloween season. Tickets range from $24.99-$54.99 for Halloween flashlight tours and regular mansion tours tickets are $19.99-$39.99. The house is located down the street from Valley Fair Mall and tickets must be purchased online. Remember: Masks are mandatory in the state of California.

 

  • Mission Peak

Mission Peak is a three mile hike that starts at the parking lots of Ohlone college. The westside trails starting at Ohlone and Stanford entrances are open to the public (As of 10/14).   • Go to the Beach

Beaches were closed for most of quarantine to prevent another Florida situation, but beaches are open now and are a great location for sunset viewing. Remember: Masks are mandatory in the state of California.

 

  • Pirates of Emerson Drive Thru

Pirates of Emerson is an East Bay favorite for Halloween fun. The event is still located at the Alameda County Fairgrounds; but this year it’s a drive-thru, and tickets can be purchased at http://www.piratesofemerson.com/ticketing/ . Remember: Masks are mandatory in the state of California.

 

  • Jack London Square Farmers Market

As of July 2020, the farmers market along the water has been open and operating during COVID-19. The market is open 9am - 2pm every Sunday, and is feet away from delicious restaurants open for lunch. Remember: Masks are mandatory in the state of California.

 

  • San Jose Scavenger Hunt

As of this month, You can visit places like San Jose Museum of the Art, Hotel de Anza while completing the San Jose Scavenger Hunt. If you have a special event approaching, you can plan a personalized hunt. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.letsroam.com/tours_and_adventures/San_Jose_California .   • Speer Family Farms Pumpkin Patch

Fremont’s favorite pumpkin patch, Ardenwood Farms, is shut down sadly, but 30 min away is Speer Family Farms in Oakland. The pumpkin patch is open Sept 25-Oct 31, 10am-9pm daily. Remember: Masks are mandatory in the state of California.
